Cephalotus

Albany Pitcher Plant

Cephalotus follicularis is a slow, strange little pitcher plant from a small corner of southwestern Australia — no relation to Sarracenia or Nepenthes, it invented the pitcher trap all on its own. Grown hard in bright light the pitchers color up nearly black. It rewards patience more than any plant we grow: a well-established clump takes years, and looks like nothing else on the bench.
